Anton Roberts is a criminology/sociology researcher at the Policy Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) at Manchester Metropolitain University (MMU) in the UK. In his day-to-day work, he is involved in various programme evaluations relating to the criminal justice system with a focus on youth crime and what factors drive or reduce rates of reoffending. Anton is also currently studying for his PhD – looking at the intersection of gender/hyper-masculinity (harmful forms of gender) in the homelessness community, here in Manchester. In addition, he also produces the ‘Backstage Academic’ Podcast, a none pay walled platform designed to amplify the voices of early researchers and interview academic authors. Finally, Anton is a writer/presenter in the making of factual documentaries that apply a sociologic lens to contemporary issues such as violence and forms of extremism.
